What is an embedded device?
An embedded device is a small computer that’s built into something else to do a specific job. You don’t usually see it or think of it as a computer, but it helps the device it’s inside of work properly. For example:
- The microwave in your kitchen has an embedded device that controls the buttons, sets the timer, and tells it when to start and stop cooking.
- A car has many embedded devices to control things like the engine, airbags, or GPS.
- Even your washing machine, smart thermostat, or TV remote likely has one.
So, unlike a regular computer that can do many things, an embedded device is made to do just one or a few tasks — and it’s designed to do them reliably and efficiently.
Can you integrate with sensors, displays, or other custom peripherals?
